A hydraulic elevator uses a fluid-driven piston housed in a cylinder to raise and lower the car. A pump unit pushes hydraulic oil into the cylinder to ascend; controlled release of the oil — powered solely by the cabin's own weight — brings the car down without consuming electricity.
An electric motor drives a hydraulic pump that pressurises the oil in the cylinder.
Pressurised fluid extends the piston upward, smoothly lifting the elevator car.
On descent, a control valve releases oil back to the reservoir — no electricity needed.
